Luther Lanard, PC, was built to solve legal issues for franchisees. Whether you are just getting started or own and operate many franchises, you face challenges every day. We have deep experience in every aspect of the franchise industry. We provide both dispute representation and agreement services. We can assist you whether you are starting or buying a franchise, are expanding, or in a dispute. If you need to negotiate a commercial lease, form a business, enter into a franchise, development or master franchise agreement, we can help you. If you’re in a dispute, we will negotiate, litigate and resolve the matter by settlement or trial to achieve your objectives.
I spent the first part of my career working at some of the most prestigious law firms in the country. During that time, I, along with my teams, represented everyone from billionaires to celebrities to Fortune 500 companies. On behalf of plaintiffs, I have obtained verdicts, pre-trial judgments, and settlements amounting to more than $20 million. Representing corporate and individual defendants, I have achieved verdicts, pre-trial judgments, and settlements successfully defending against claims exceeding tens of millions of dollars I also represented many franchisors as I learned the ins and outs of franchise law and became Chair of the California Lawyers Association’s Franchise Law Committee. I would go on to become the general counsel of a growing franchise brand, Amada Senior Care. At Amada I built out the legal department and put together the processes to manage legal issues. I was responsible for Amanda’s franchise registration and relationship obligations, litigation, contract negotiation, commercial transactions, corporate development and governance, and advising on employment, insurance, and data privacy law, among others. During my career, I have received invaluable training and learned how franchisors defend cases and what strategies and tactics they use to defeat franchisees’ claims. I also learned what causes franchisors to settle and how best to negotiate agreements with them. After a decade of practicing, I decided to start my own law firm, designed to be one of the premier franchise law firms in the country. When not lawyering, I take advantage of the California sunshine and get outdoors as much as possible (running, biking, swimming, surfing) while spending time with my family.
